I am just floored, this is just completely mind blowing. All I can hope is that this story brings more awareness to his exceptional musicianship than if he hadn't gone through this horrendous ordeal. Man oh man.

Susan, I am not au fait with viruses b/c I'm careful.
I was reading your link, and a virus...double-click,etc turned up and would not Go when I tried to 'X' it, so
I got off the site.
And odd 60+ visits, no comments...till mine
BUT....Abbie says 'no virus'.....cool.
No virus there, Viv. May be a false warning some advert types give to some virus protectors
OMG Susan! That poor lad!
Yeah, I didn't get any warnings either. It's the Montreal Gazette!
Can you believe that Abbie? The whole thing made my tummy hurt. What a twisted person she is :/

I actually saw lonely, scared, vulnerable, very thoughtless and sad.
I think I feel sorry for her also. What she did was unacceptable but I think I see her reasons and they were so sad ones
5 Years Ago
It is sad, but she is also very unstable. I cannot imagine doing that to someone you love. Just devastating.

What a horrendous thing to do! That was his whole future.
If this news goes viral maybe they will find her although she obviously has serious issues!

Susan,
Interesting story. Horrible.
My great aunt Ruth was married to a man who went to Julliard. He had a Stradivarius violin. It was their retirement plan. She was a concert pianist in NY and London. I think he was with the NY Philharmonic Symphony. They had a very stormy relationship is the family legend. Every now and then after a fight he would walk out with the violin. They never divorced. The arguments? I do not know? Some are happy arguing.
Years later in 1995, my parents went to sell the family home. A couple went through looking it over. The man was 79 and the woman was 65. The man stopped to look at my dad's CD collection of classical music and dad's letter from Solomon to Ruth on a wall in the den. Dad and the man got to talking classical music. The man had gone to Julliard. He was "crazy" Jules' roommate at Julliard. Jules was Ruthie's stormy husband. The couple bought the house from my parents based on that.
Turns out this man after WW II close to the time he had graduated Julliard also had bought beach front property on Martha's Vineyard. He used a 40 year mortgage to keep the payments very low. He was very well off four decades later. He bought our family home with a 40 year mortgage at age 79. He bought a good sized home for his grandkids to come visit.

I saw that story this morning, Susan, and it made my stomach turn! Once she got found out, the clarinetist said she didn't even sound sorry for what she did but was sorry she got caught!! I see a girl without a conscience. Every little step of her nefarious "project" would have caused a normal person to stop and consider their actions. I'm no psychologist, but she's got major issues.

but...Patricia....that is why he was interested in the first place. No?
It is not like just one of them was crazy was it? We do not know.
It is like a friend of mine getting a divorce a few years ago. Everything was her fault. I could never open my mouth of course and say, "but you.......".

Where in the story are you coming up with him being crazy? Remember, a court of law found for him, and rightly so. He'll likely never see any of the money, though, unless she's a homeowner and they go after her insurance. Maybe wage garnishment, but not sure they do that these days.

Sounds like he's an extremely talented young musician who was doing everything he could to try and fulfill his dreams. Not crazy in the least. Most likely very sensitive, loving, forgiving... someone who always sees the best in people. Just the kind of person a sociopath (like her) looks for.
When you truly love someone, you want the absolute best for them, even if it may not be the best for you. Fear of abandonment doesn't equal love for the other person. It's totally a self preservation thing.
I was happy to read that he has done very well despite this incredibly sick treatment by her. I didn't feel sorry for her at all.

OK, So I'm working and singing and I find I'm singing THIS!
I'm like "what?" Then it occurs to me that this is this story from a different perspective. If this were a Charlotte Bronte character you'd see her struggle differently.
Here's a song about a woman who wants to clip her man's wings. She ain't joining him NOWHERE!
Since we're not directly, emotionally involved anyway with these characters..

Susan,
He is a very nice guy. I did not say other wise. He is extremely smart. Again I would never say other wise.
He is going to have hell for girl friends unless he has learned some lessons here. Not that I know what it is, I do not know him. Just patterns repeat.
He is funny, he mentions in that interview he might have been in some denial. He was the entire river of da Nile.
The nicest guys can have some problems in life. Does not make them insane or crazy. Not to the extreme anyway.
I will say his affect smiling all the way through that interview was a bit odd. JMO But I am from CT, we do not smile for nothing. Cultural thing.

The women here do realize the double standard here? Women are seen more often as crazy? Men are the rational ones?
Men go crazy angry trying to explain how crazy their partner is. I just sit back listening and planning my escape.
I have never bought into the idea that men are so incredibly rational for one moment. But I see people play that out constantly.
Just my observations.
The musician in that story deserved his court win. I am not debating that. But it takes two to tango. He was in it with her for some reasons that were not quite kosher, ya know?
Dave

There is no double standard here, favoring men.
Men are attracted to crazy women. period. That is THEIR weakness.
Sane, nice women outgrow their need for bad boys.
We are far more mature ;)

Wait... there's bad boys? Where? WHERE?? 8)
