YES, ALL OF THE ART IS MINE! I have a varied style and I work in many mediums. This is not a collection of works from other artists. I have always felt myself to be a right-brained person in a left-brained world. Thirty-two of my years has been devoted to planning and scheduling large projects for construction, aerospace, transportation and energy in many parts of the country to keep the rent or mortgage paid and food on the table. For some strange reason, my humor got the best of me and I was always asked to do underground cartoons and caricatures to document events or comical situations.
I began my art early when my parents stuck me in the back of the family car at 3 with pad and pencil and told me to Shut up and draw! I have been drawing, painting and doodling since I've been old enough to drag a cat around and keep my audiences entertained with my goofy sense of humor and sincere love of critters.
My whimsical art came about following the tragedy of 9/11 when I was one among many contractors involved in a lay off at Boeing. After remaining glued to the television in the same state of shock as the rest of the nation, I eventually knew that America would have to learn to smile again. I combined the three things that I felt I knew the most about; old folks, cats and wine and the 'Cat Companion' Series was born! The country has been delighted by my whimsical Mad Magazine meets Norman Rockwell images ever since. I now paint and draw images wishing to bring about a smile. In this day of so many stressful things, we need to focus and laugh about the good things in life. The comfort of long-time friends, the unconditional love of our furry companions and staying a little nuts, will keep us all sane!
I currently live in Port Orchard, Washington with my photographer husband, Glen and our own eight feline shed machines. My images are known throughout the country and she has fans in many countries. I am now doing both whimsical and serious portraits of people and pets as well as abstract, cartooning, photography and fantasy... oh heck, I'm all over the map! We previously owned the 'Crazy Lady Galleries' located in Bremerton and Port Orchard, Washington and still own '(Wilkerson's) Port Orchard Gallery' where we display our art and photography as well as that of other artists.
