White Space Around An Art Print?

Greetings all--quick question for those of you who have purchased your own prints.....

for a 12 x 12 print ----what is the inch size of the surrounding white border of paper..?

ie-----if it is a 12 x 12 inch print-----and 2 inches all around.......this then becomes just and 8 x 8 image
on a 12 x 12 piece of paper.......---any help is appreciated --thank you all--Best, Tim

ALL-----I found the information---1 inch all around beyond the edge of the art image...translated 12 x 12 inch print ---actual image 10 x 10------BEST!, Tim

They add a 1 inch border all round so that a framer can add a mount without overlapping and loosing some of the image.

No, the print is 12 x 12. Trim the border off and it's still 12 x 12.

Image size usually means just that, the size of the image.

The border may vary from printer to printer, but the image size is the image size.
