Walter Isaacson's recent biography of da Vinci is fascinating and may reveal someone quite different from the image you have in mind.

Thanks for posting this!! I could get lost in his sketches. I started the book, too. Visiting the town of Vinci is on my list, and I just finished an Italian tourism class. Guess you could say I'm a fan!

This is very interesting, Abbie, as I am three quarters the through reading a new book titled "How to Think Like da Vinci" by Daniel Smith.

It is constantly referring to his notebooks and expanding on many of his quotes.

"Those who take for their standard anything but Nature, the mistress of all masters, weary themselves in vain". Leonardo da Vinci, writing in his notebooks.

If you haven't already read it I highly recommend doing so.
