Excellent image! Love the vista. Even if I can't edit this one, I love voting in the contests. Not just these, but all contests. The only times I've ever noticed an increase in views is when I enter contests.
Thanks for another one.

trying to get it done before my nieces arrive.

would it be possible to have a raw version of this? it would be easier to edit, with no compression issues. i see squares at 400%

Just noticed that, less than 900 on the short side. Tried to work with it but I'm coming up too crunchy. Is that part of the challenge?

There is no RAW Mike. I do not shoot in Raw
It is a small file, I am sorry. I am also learning as I go along with what will work and what will not. I see some amazing images already
If anyone else has images they would like to donate for future contests please throw them at me at support@ourartsmagazine.com

It doesn't have to be a raw file. It can be a large JPEG file? Is that the original size Abbie?
if your learning also, i would check the size the camera can output and make sure its on the highest settings. if you can always shoot in raw, you'll be able to save the shadow and highlights better. and you won't have to deal with the camera's compression, sharpening, etc.

Abbie, thanks again for providing us an image to work with ! ! !
While having a larger image file to work with is always ideal, especially if it is a RAW file, I did not seem to have any issues in upsizing the image to 4256 pixels wide and 2832 pixels high @ 300 DPI. At those settings that would give me a 14.187 inch wide by 9.44 inch high image and would be substantially larger at 100 DPI, around 42.56 inches wide by 28.32 inches high.

Thank you, Frank!
Mike I know what I'm doing.... I just haven't yet taken any photos especially for this. I will not be giving raw files. I will give larger next time. I'm starting to wish I'd not bothered, to be honest.
Jessica yes, this is the size of this image. I'm sorry.
Seriously, call it all part of the challenge.

Loving the images already! The next image will be totally different and I'm already excited, seeing these, with what you'll make of it

Abbie the size is part of the challenge and part of the fun! I think the competitions are a great idea and have thoroughly enjoyed participating so far and seeing what people come up with. It stimulates the little grey cells as the saying goes.

I am using the excellent Alien Skin Blow Up 3 to get fantastic enlargements.
ASBU3 is more forgiving - at greater enlargements - on art-treated material
i.e digitally-painted.

This idea is great and I enjoy the challenge.
The one thing that I wonder about though is how much of the original work should be present. I just looked at one entry that has loads of votes but nothing obviously recognizable from the original that it was supposedly worked from. Was a leaf from the tree copied and embedded somewhere?
There should be some kinda guideline that the original image must have a certain percentage of recognition in the challenge since it is the template we are working from.

Which one..I did check all left in for treeline etc... I could see my treeline so left them

one has a fairy that blocks the entire view it could be a white background and it would have worked.

A tree line. Is it supposed to be prevalent in some way. Or a fuzzy backdrop?
I'm just making an observation. Don't want to pick on someone's work. But a treeline is... a treeline. Especially since it is fuzzed out and way back in the backdrop.
The challenge seems to be to keep a certain amount obvious while blending and transforming. But it's your call. I'm just musing about...

Ok, here's one, nothing radical, take a subtle, muted landscape and juice it up a little, but not so much as to make it into something else, especially given the small pixel count which would get pretty crazy with a lot of edits. It has a saturation boost, some additional brightness, I straightened it to level the water surface, added some greenness to the grass and trees and another boost of structure to the sky to bring out some cloud detail. There's also a bit of a vignette and some inner brightness.
