Original watercolor painting, 'Rufous Hummingbird Portrait', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Rufous Hummingbirds are small hummingbirds of western North America. The males have bright orange-rufous coloration, with an iridescent red-orange throat patch. They are very colorful, adding a splash of orange to an otherwise more muted landscape! Bird and wildlife art.

The Tourmaline Sunangel is a small hummingbird found in parts of tropical and subtropical forest of Colombia and Ecuador. I had the pleasure of seeing it on Ecuador's eastern slopes a few years ago. South American bird / wildlife art.

One more for the Vette lovers. A pen & ink drawing published in a magazine for those enthusiasts,
I liked the contrast of two different modes of transportation in this image... the slow pace of hot air ballooning and the speed of a well maintained sports car.

Mixed media, oil-and-alkyd painting of a mythological animal, a dragon, flying over a small group of people who are standing in a field that borders on a dark and ominous wood. This is a work-in-progress painting, meaning that it's not yet finished (which is one reason why it's untitled). But it will be pretty soon.

Girl With Dragon Tattoo
This fictional piece combines aspects of fantasy, science fiction, feminine beauty, and technology. Dragons often symbolize strength, wisdom, and power.
Dragon Tales
This whimsical work depicts a troll reading a book next to a forest stream. Child-like and amusing, the piece has a fairy tale feel.
High Heels Still Life
I recently took a photography course and our first assignments was to shoot a still life. PANIC! This was a new area for me.

White Tail Deer In Watercolor
I wanted to capture the softness and sweetness of this scene and decided to digitally transform my photo of this doe and her fawn into a watercolor piece.
Burrowing Owl In Profile
The Burrowing Owl is an adorable "pint-sized" raptor that is active during the day and lives in open, treeless areas throughout North and South America.
Great Blue Heron Watercolor
A digital watercolor of a Great Blue Heron standing on one leg along the banks of the C & O Canal in Maryland.
Wood Ducks In Flight
A digital watercolor of two handsome male Wood Ducks taking flight. Created from a photograph I shot at a lake just a few miles from my home.

Natural Energy Abstract by Kathy K. McClellan
This image is a digitally produced abstract. The green preview box will show more of the movement of energy captured in this scene.
This movement mimics and yet exaggerates the wavy energy we see rising from pavement on an extremely hot day.
Imagine a desert landscape when sand and sky are all that is seen at first. Or a seascape with sand, sea and sky. You may only see the colors and shapes at first but if you look closely you will not only see but hopefully you will also feel the energy involved in the scene.
Calming and energizing at the same time, this image will fit into most any decor, room or office.

Being a military brat, I named my dog "tag". I loved that dog. He represented all the military meant to me as a child. Tag was comforting to all the service members who came around him. He put a smile on all the soldiers faces. I dressed him up sometimes in camoflauge. His favorite blanket was one I had bought in Mexico. He was the best dog ever.

Thin magenta strands highlight wide curving dusty pale violet and fading yellow petals with slender wavy edge blue fronds between each, while a frosty green outburst of flowering symmetry distractingly lies beneath, with a pale glowing core of warmly lit orange and sprigs of wild floral mischief adorning the corners.

A tree stands in a field, her arms reaching up into the lightening sky of a new day. The dawn, warming the horizon and wakening the birds, will soon warm and waken us all.
"Tree At Dawn" ... non-photo based ... created from my imagination, freehand, in Corel Painter 2018 and Photoshop CS6 ...

For one who holds no love in the heart,
the most obvious signs of love could still be missed out;
for one who fills the heart with love,
love is there for sure --
even when not receiving love right at the moment,
there is always love flowing from the heart.

Cactus are fascinating aren't they? They are prickly and weirdly beautiful. Cactus are so different from other plants. They make me feel as though I am actually in the desert. They don't need much water and yet, we are what, 70% water? I love to see them bloom. Something so beautiful coming from something so strange. Yes, you can love something strange.

This is the carrier pigeon I dream about. I learned about carrier pigeons and how they would carry messages to the front line during the war before we had electronics. One pigeon was even given a medal of honor. There are pigeon clubs all over the world. Some pigeons are worth a lot of money because of being able to come home fast. This is Coopixe. At least that's what I named her. She is from the country south of St. Louis, Mo. I don't dream about her all the time, but when I do I wake up with a smile on face.

I'm happy how this turned out and am glad to be able to share it here! I drew the silhouette of leaves in black ink then made that drawing into a png file. I combined that with a digitally painted background, and voila. The background went through so many color changes, I'm not even sure how it started. Glad it will soon be fall and looking forward to viewing all the colorful fall artworks I'm sure we'll be seeing! (btw, I tried to comment on some of the amazing beauties here, but it asks me to log into FAA even though I am already logged in, so I won't pursue that further, sorry...)

Stheno...
Long forgotten to lore, she is not to be confused with her sisters Medusa or Euryale. For Stheno was born in the caverns beneath Mount Olympus and like Euryale is immortal. However Medusa was mortal and when Perseus took her life, Stheno tried to kill him. Unsuccessful, she began to hunt and kill all men and possibly continues today... Vengeance is hers as she has killed more men then her sisters Medusa and Euryale combined.

This big yellow flower reminds of sunflowers...There is something about mustard yellow and olive green that intrigues me. The mustard yellow is happiness and brightness combined with a solid universal olive green. This flower balances me when I look at it. I'm intrigues and relaxed. I love it.
