For some reason, automatic posting to Facebook stopped working for me yesterday. Went to make sure it was enabled and it wasn't, so I clicked to enable it and got the following message:
App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.
Abbie? Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Mike,
No, it’s just the ability to have the images post direct to my Facebook, and perhaps use the shop now tab.

Rick,
My shop button is working.
I post independently of my AW and just leave a link. The reason I post independently about twice a day is to leave four images in the post. See my page. I then share the image gallery to a few groups.

Rick - the shop is not working for me either and my page is at 10k fans. I certainly can't say it's everyone but it's not just you. Here's another thread from earlier today.

David - your shop button is a link - in your case to your AW. I'm using mine as a "contact me" link to a contact form on my own site. There are several different options to configure that button for. At any rate, it's not the old FAA Facebook shop which was much more similar to the widget than the AW. It didn't take the user off Facebook. That feature does seem to have gone MIA.
I haven't used the autopost thing in years. The message was redundant and I can imagine many people hid those. I also suspect that Facebook's algorithms for the newsfeed didn't favor them.

Mark,
I am finding that using FB and Twitter when you use different images, I use four per post, you can use the same message. I use "Post Modern by David Bridburg" and my AW link with UTMs.
The systems are not parsing the message if the images are different each time. You can also resend the same post a couple of weeks later or a few weeks later and the systems wont notice. I rebuffer things on Twitter and Twitter does not know.
The Google stuff about context is silly. Google never sells context, but does sell keywords. These three companies are so widespread they do not have the resources to parse all the context to police everyone.
Now if all you do is post the same ten words, no image, yes it will be noticed if within a few days of each post. Or within hours.
I need to ask you Mark, is there an advantage to using a "contact me" link? I have not thought that through.
One advantage to my posting my link on every post, is I do not need the shop button. I could go with something else. In my business page data people are clicking on all sorts of things...other than the links on the posts. Are there stats on the shop button anywhere?
Thanks,
Dave

Mark,
Thanks, I thought over allowing people to contact me through the AW. It is a good idea. The AW menu ever present.
Switched it over.

PS I do not have enough data on the page yet, it is new, to make the decision. Instead I made a philosophical decision.

Perhaps it's too late, but I'm not following most of your question David. I am not talking about what Facebook/Twitter/Google like. I'm talking about the human beings seeing my posts in their newsfeed.. The same message over and over "blah blah uploaded new work to blah blah" is redundant. In the past it's been said that Facebook does ding apps that post content versus people manually posting. On Facebook you can schedule posts in advance without an app. So I haven't used anything else to schedule posts since.
As Twitter has also moved to an algorithm to decide what gets in front of humans, I woudln't doubt they do too but I use twitter so little that I'm making wild guesses.
My main reason for using the contact me link was because I turned off the ability for people to message my page using Facebook messenger. I missed too many messages that I found weeks and months later. I imagine there are some people who won't fill out a form to message me but I'd rather chance that than have them sitting there wondering why I never responded. I could have just as well linked them to my site and let them find the contact option on their own but I'd rather make sure they know there is a path to reach me. I can certainly say that I do see people clicking on that button and going to my page and sending messages so it works for some.
I have no idea if it's better to use it for one purpose or the other. I picked what I wanted it for on that merit alone.

Mark,
It is late, I am perhaps not making myself clear.
If you use a different image file for each post that is good enough to be completely redundant in all your posts. FB wont pick up on it.
I use four different image files in my posts and always use the same verbiage. FB never notices.

Addition: If you need to post something twice on FB, no images, and you add a single space FB wont know the messages are the same.

David - as I said, I'm more concerned that the live humans that are following me are bored by redundant posts than the algorithms because if the live humans aren't responding, then Facebook will show my future posts to an ever-smaller-circle. Above all else, you want people to respond, not crickets to chirp.
An image alone can elicit response regardless of what is said with it, but I have played with what I write in the posts often enough to know that text matters too.
Post a picture and say "here's a cat" or "blah blah uploaded a picture" or anything that is said so many times it's tuned out.
Versus post a picture and say "do you think this cat is cute?" Or "isn't this cat cute?"
My example is clunky, but what I'm saying is invite people to interact with your content.

I can see that. It is not even my second week, but earlier tonight I posted a pic of Finnegan and a bit of verbiage.
I will find my own voice. That is the key to it. Posting Finn was beginning that.
I have one item getting great traction in the last 15 hours. I am loving using the business page.
Not sure where to get creative with it next. That will come to me.

I'm having the same problems as everyone else...maybe someone from FAA needs to login to facebook and make the app "live"? I had a similar problem on a cllients site and all that was needed was to login the the FB account and when I checked the apps it was switched to development mode... I switched it to "live" and everything started woriking again... has anyone from checked the FAA acct logged in to check it? Might be a simple solution... hopefully... ;)

I both interact AND autopost. I like the autopost because it throws everything out there at least once. Then a few times a week I will choose one image to highlight and write it up a bit and share it to groups as well. So far this has worked well for me.

Hmmm...not sure is this is what is being talked about, but...
A little while ago I edited two of the images on my AW and selected to have them shared to my FB Personal Page, and my FB Photography Page and to a Twitter page. Both images posted to all three places: https://www.facebook.com/BillSwartwoutPhotography - https://www.facebook.com/BillSwartwout - https://twitter.com/Beachy
So, at least that has not changed for me and I do it every few days. In between I often write a short, upload the related photograph and provide a link to where it can be found - either in my AW or on Amazon (where most of my recent sales have originated).

Just uploaded an image and lo and behold, without me changing anything, it's back to working as it was. Go figure. Not sure if I was just seeing a glitch, if the programmers got it fixed, or it was a Facebook issue all along, but glad it's working again!

Seems this problem is happening again. No post to FB pages just now, though it worked fine a few days ago. Anyone else having this problem, or know anything about it?

Hello
This is not working right at this moment.
I am sorry for the inconvenience. It is with the programmer

Patty, see Abbie's message just above yours.
Quote: As I've explained, the app is not working. It's not viable right now
I tend to think it probably will not work again. Just click on the "f" icon on the upper right side of your image and post to Facebook.

Our app has been in "review" for almost a month now. As soon as they approve it, everything will start working again.

Twitter is also having issues. I think both re being casued by changed FineArtAmerica has made recently, but they are blaming the other two.
I'm not seeing an issue with Twitter. Just tweeted three new uploads to it from my upload page.
If you Tweet a lot you will see issues. Tweets not taking, ability to go back and redo again even though you have just finished, either that or counts not increasing when you Tweet. It is an issue they have acknowledged, but not correcting, just blaming on Twitter.
Twitter "looks" like is submitting properly. It is only after you look at your image counts and numbers of image views you will notice the problem. The counts ill be off. Sometimes it ill count some, but not all of your submission. Sometimes it doesn't count anything.

Norma
We are blaming them because it's their apps and their changes.
I've been informed that twitter is now working but we are still waiting for Facebook
5 Years Ago
@Norma, these problems are being caused by changes at FB and Twitter following the Cambridge Analytica scandal and other revelations. They're changing the rules for automated posting to better authenticate the source. And they're forcing app and site developers to jump through new hoops, and gain new approvals. There will no doubt be more changes in the future and some may be big.

Is Fine Art America tech support working with Twitter high level tech support to resolve this problem? Do they even know what is causing the problem? Or are they just waiting until some solution magically appears? We are paying for a working system, not a broken one.

Hi all,
I just received this message a day or so ago from FAA's Tech Support regarding automatic posting to Facebook.
"Hello
A recent update to the Facebook Platform Policies ended the ability to automatically post anything to your Facebook profile or page
I am sorry for the inconvenience. It is with the programmer and Facebook to get this sorted and a new app up and working if they allow it.
I will keep this ticket open and advise you when/if it is working again
I hope that helps."

Fine Art America isn't worth much if Facebook app and Twitter isn't working properly. The ability of new artists to get their work noticed has just deteriorated markedly. It is the job the programmers to interact with the top tech support at both these companies to get these apps working properly again. So far I have neither heard of been informed both tech staffs are working together on this.

I think pixels is worth a lot with or without the Facebook app ......after all you can still share manually. You seem to think we're doing it on purpose and that is the last thing that it it is. Facebook had a big issue over privacy ... it was in all the papers..... it was even on television. Because of that they've had to make some drastic changes to their site. We've just been caught up in that. Facebook pages now have to have over 2000 fans to have apps. Apps that wish to be on Pages for the less than 2000 fans have to go on a waiting list to be approved. I believe this was explained further up the thread. We are on the waiting list. They know we are on the waiting list. they just have not approved us yet. This is not pixels fault.
The site is a fabulous site..... you have everything else that you could possibly want to market with. and to say that we're not worth anything just because we have not got Facebook working at the moment is, I personally believe as another artist, unfair.
Well said, Abbie :)
And Norma, it really is no big issue with Facebook for any of us to just click the Facebook icon above our image... it only takes a second, and bingo, our image is posted!
And as for Twitter, not that I've yet had any issues with FAA when editing or posting a new image, but I believe some have been affected.
Twitter are also changing their rules and any business or user that have an App.... especially a 3rd party App have to apply for approval:
https://blog.twitter.com/developer/en_us/topics/tools/2018/new-developer-requirements-to-protect-our-platform.html
I think what we get on FAA for just USD30 is certainly well worthwhile.
Norma, there does not seem to be any issues now with the Twitter App. Have you enabled your Twitter app again behind the scenes.
Abbie... I just gave it a try to see if FB app was working for me. I went behind the scenes and enabled FB, personal and then Fan page comes up automatically.
I then edited and image, and it still did not go to FB.
Perhaps it will take a few hours to sort itself out.... will check again later.

I just got mine re-synced again. It's a handy feature and def sames on time posting!

Hi there,
I've been reading this thread and I can't find the answer. I used this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TI948l_KIO0
When I want to enable my facebook fan page as the last step to Install the Facebook Application on FineArtArtAmerica.com
a pop up message says: "This page does not have permission to install a custom tab". and I just can't connect it.
Anyone had the same problem? What should I do? Thanks in advance!
