Dear FAA Members!
Please help me, what are the three most popular selling art themes here?
Veteran FAA members can you give me an advice about this?
Many tahanks,

I'd say local landmarks is a big one, not just photographs but pop art style images that somehow relate to a city or state or even country. Celebrity art is big too. Watching the recently sold page and the buyer review page for a while will give you a good idea of what are big sellers here. Keep in mind though some things sell a lot because the seller has a well established a following, what they sell may be more due to their marketing efforts than what's hot.

Art by the top artists.
You are better off in the long run finding your own niche than following already established artists. For example map art. No way you could caught up with the top selling map artist. The guy is everywhere.

The top selling art probably has little to do with the themes and more with the artists' method of marketing. Good luck!

If you go to the "Recent Sales" Page ( https://fineartamerica.com/recentprintsales.html ) on several occasions....maybe 2 days apart, you can do a tally yourself to see which types/subjects show up the most. Good luck!

I have to find satisfaction in making my art. Not saying anyone else does not, but what they do does directly matter to me.
Marketing wise Edward is right. I am not turning a blind eye to strategic and tactical marketing. Actually it is the opposite as Ed is pointing out.

I don't think he was asking for advice, but maybe he was.
Themes that I see selling are beautiful color palettes of whatever, usually dogs or animals (lol), naked sexy people, and really cleverly thought out digital images. Rock and Roll seems to be popular with colorful guitars. Colorful cows, landscapes, and creative images always sell...especially if the image is of higher quality.
One thought I have on "what sells" is the professional element of much of the work that does sell. Very clear images, no noise in the photo, digitally enhanced, but not to a degree that a viewer can tell. One thing I just got rid of in my work is the cheesy Adobe filters. I loved using them, but photo shop is a bad word for me in my local scene.
It's really hard to narrow it down for me because I know two very successful artists. One that sells a lot here on FAA and one that gets paid 200K just to show up at a talk show. The one artist that is really successful can draw a clown that scares me to even look at, he's awesome and his work sells in Hollyworld and he's developed a major character in the business. He's my brother's friend and has a lot advice about success, but I don't want to live the life of a successful artist. That would really suck for me. lol
I like my simple life of being unpopular, and painting what I choose to paint. That said, I am a working artist, and I do get commissions.

Akos, I love kitty images and more.
This one is fabulous. Sending you good energy for many sales. This would be so fabulous in any home!!
If you can get your social media buttons going, I would love to share. Here in the Pacific Northwest where I live there are many people who would love this scene.

Lisa,
Third line in his OP he asks for advice in a general way.
I think my advice is to thine own self be true.

Abbie,
That is interesting. Is it in that order for the entire site?
Or is that just some of the main topics to work with?

Believe Abbie, Akos.
She is a moderator and only the owner of the site and his designated employees would have access to accurate information...even recent sales page is just a sampling.

Many thanks Lisa!
Thank you, now I enabled my social buttons, so now you can share it!
I will be happy if you share my artwork, may be this action going to a sale...
Lisa which social media will you share it?

Abstracts in top 4 on a whole FAA site? That is very interesting because it is not easy to choose a proper keywords for abstracts.
...and the top keywords are...
Landscapes
Animals
Flowers
Abstracts
Cover something popular like the Eiffel Tower and yes there will be more buyers, but they will also be spread out over more artists. Everyone* loves the Eiffel Tower and everyone* paints and takes photos of it.
Everyone* loves flowers. Everyone* paints and photographs flowers. Everyone* tries to sell flower images. Jump into a crowded pool and you'll have to do something special to make a splash.
*by everyone I mean a large percentage of people.

Colours
People like colour
With landscapes and flowers, abstracts...you have colour
Animals in colours, bold colours, sell
Marion Rose style art sells
Simple, not too fussy. Colourful but easy to look at
Yes, of times people just want the art to match the sofa.......literally.
Sunsets, sunrises..... Oversaturated across the web but they sell

it will depend on what you do and you make it. i wouldn't mention the best, because then i'd have more competition. in general shoot what you are best at, and be known for that. running from topic to topic, thinking it will sell because someone told you it will, won't help you as much as you think. like i could say sunsets sell well, but they don't, unless you have an interesting foreground to go with it. i think your dogs would sell well if there were more of them in different breeds. but then if you have a bunch of breeds, the one that a person wants to buy - is the one breed you don't have.
like i've seen animals sell, but they sell best as a blobby painting. usually you have to get known for certain things or certain styles. you can also look at the sales pages, but you may not see that many themes, and the themes vary a lot.

"usually you have to get known for certain things or certain styles."
I agree with this. If you are going to cover a popular subject you have to stand out in some way, that's usually with your style.

Actually Marlene, it is easy for anyone to see.
Do a search for "ART" then sort by best sellers.

actually , that method would only be accurate if everyone has the word 'art' in their keywords, title or name. ;)
