Oh gosh Miroslava! I only just figured out there were official 'Thank You' links in the discussion pages within groups.
Thinking my thank you's in the comments section on the image somehow 'magically' reached you! ummmm derrrr
(You and other groups must have thought I was ungrateful not to send my thank you's previously!!)

Description
I came across this old windmill in rural New South Wales one late afternoon. I had quite the giggle that someone gave it a name "Comet"! Still unsure about the connection of the name and the structure.......
The sun shone on the back of the blades as they slowly turned in the breeze. Feeding an old galvanised tank with much needed water in the area.

Relics from rural Australia Series Images by Lexa Harpell.
I'm fascinated with history and its relics, they evoke stories of a time passed, their life, their work. There is an unspeakable attachment and fascination to our past.
This collection of branding irons marked many cattle in their time - now retired to admire and ponder their past.
It was late afternoon in an old working shed. A row of old rusted branding irons hung on a wall against old cracked timbers. I found the textures of time intriguing.

Arthur River 'The Edge of the World' on the west coast of Tasmania has a wild coastline. It's the Wild West of this Island State of Australia.
Debris from Arthur River and the Indian Ocean washes up on the rocks along this coastline.
The dangerously famous Roaring Forties winds whip around the globe across the mighty Indian Ocean.

Australian Tree Bark Series Images by Lexa Harpell.
Rain drenched pastel coloured bark with dark geometric sap (kino) patterns.
Thick ash covers the ground after the Arthur River, Tasmanian bushfires, 2016.
Bush fires are a natural occurrence in Australia. Each summer, Mother Nature 'picks' a state to show 'who is in charge' of this land.
Dodging the bushfires on my trip around Tasmania, Arthur River finally opened up and I could witness the impact on the landscape.
Regrowth begins quickly after an Australian bushfire. Within days, the grass shoots up, later the trees begin to sprout new leaves.

Australia has a fascinating landscape - big - dry and vibrant.
In many areas summer can be very dry, yet the sheep somehow manage to find small patches of grass to graze upon. The farmers hope and pray for much needed rain over the winters.

Screaming 'Rural Australia' Series by Lexa Harpell.
Rural Australia can be sparse, raw, big and bold - yet not boring with oddity scenes like this.
An old rusted 'letterbox' on this farm has probably been used as target practice as some point in it's life!
Cooma, New South Wales, Australia region.

Australian Tree Bark Series Images by Lexa Harpell.
Bubbles exuding from the tree - this is an unusual natural phenomenon and usually occurs with a heavy rain after a particularly dry period. The foamy type bubbles were beginning from one source at the top and slowly 'dripping' down the bark.
'Eucalyptus bark and leaves contain glycosylated alkaloids or isoprenoids called saponins which foam when wet.'
An old convict relic sits on top of a hill at Stanley, Tasmania, Australia. Evoking stories of its past and inhabitants. Many convicts were bought to Australia as free labour to colonise this country.

Aussie Galvanised Iron Series by Lexa Harpell.
A close up collection of the great Aussie icon - 'gal iron'. Shapes, colours and its spectacular rusting colours and textures - wet and dry.
Corregated galvanised iron became a strong Australian cultural identity and 'gal iron' 'tin roof' an Australian vernacular from the mid 1800's.
