In describing my work I would say I collage elements borrowed from nature and recombine them to create unique figures. While working on a figure, a relationship develops, a rapport which stirs me to move toward a direction not necessarily planned...call it improvisation or being witness to a story unfolding in the moment. Each figure is crafted from clay, fiber and materials such as feathers, hides, beads and plant material. No animal was harmed or killed for the purpose of providing materials.
I also work as a painter in oil and watercolor mediums. While I was attending the University of Massachusetts, I began painting landscapes in watercolor. For three years I lived in St. Augustine, Florida, where the ocean inspired me to paint boats and ocean scenes.
My personal history involves growing up in Massachusetts, attending the Boston conservatory and University of Massachusetts. I worked as an Art Director at HHCC, a major Boston advertising agency, and as a Photo Director at Belk, in Gainesville, Florida.
