Other-worldly, dystopian, and mesmerizing are but a few words to describe Yellowstone's Mammoth Hot Springs. The Upper Terrace contains some of the most iconic geological features. The scene is a visual feast to behold anytime of day. Each visit brings fresh compositional options as land and sky intersect. I'm drawn to the once grand trees claimed by the advance of the hot springs, leaving behind the stubborn trunks.

This image was captured at Angel Terrace. Geological activity, a constant in Yellowstone's evolving present, shut down the hot spring activity in this section of Mammoth Upper Terrace a few year's ago. I return to this spot on each visit to record its beauty. On this 2024 February morning, sunlight briefly kissed the winter landscape. I snapped the picture and before a second image could be captured the sunlight dimmed. I love the serendipitous beauty of this winter Yellowstone scene.

This image will look beautiful in a den or office, calling to mind your winter memories of this grand National Park. I highly recommend a large print on either metal or acrylic--the colors will pop. A matted and framed print--either luster or metallic paper, will create a beautiful, traditional piece of wall art.
