Description
"Three Church Tops"
Paris, France
Captured from a high level in the Eiffel Tower, this cityscape of Paris, France features three prominent churches including: the gilded cupola of The Dome in the foreground, the St. Suplice with two towers directly behind the golden dome, and the classically domed Pantheon in the far background. The Pantheon was originally built as a church, but, because it was built during the Revolution, it was soon turned into a pantheon--a location housing the tombs of some of France's dead.
In a city known for its fashion, culture, art, and architecture; these edifices along-- with the world famous Notre Dame cathedral--evidence a deeply spiritual tradition.
Gleaming in the golden light of the setting sun, The Dome is especially dominant in this composition as an architectural jewel in a city filled with dazzling ornaments.
