As the sun sets on cold, clear winter days, people who live in mountain regions are often treated to gorgeous pink skies. It is a breathtakingly beautiful few minutes, before the blue and purple shades move in, gradually giving way to the dark of night.
This image was taken over Kootenay Lake in the KootenayRockies region. In the distance you see the snow covered mountain range, with pink skies above it, and the reflection of those skies in the foreground.

I'm really impressed with your vertical compositions. I love a pink sky which in this case also makes for pink water !!. I also love a pink and blue sky of the tones you have here. Such a great twist to have pink sky and water and blue mountains. The softly desaturated tones of the land add to the dreamlike quality of this image. L/f

Thank you so much for your support and comment Julie. I actually have done very little editing of this image; the blue mountains naturally appear this way as the sun goes down. Nature is the architect, I just try to do it justice!
