This is a post-painterly abstract paintography piece and a digital rendering as created here in Zsanan Studio 7 in Asheville, North Carolina. This contemporary paintography art -inspired from a photo I took of the sunset and downloaded for digital manipulation- -- continues the thread of interest in nature that runs through my digital work- images for mindfulness and/or meditation.

The visual story- Simply Complex- emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look for beauty and possibility in what is beyond the apparent.

Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives. Here is the story of longing for connection to something larger than the small self and a tale of change with compassion.

Story and Method: : In this series of digital graphics the viewer may find prompts for relaxing. “It’s not easy to do,” a friend told me. And so the idea for this image with its linear bits in a gentle color field arrived where I combined geometric elements- features – hopefully- valuable as visual tools for focusing and letting go of self-chatter to move into a quiet mind. Within this digital painting, he reported he found the gestalt that arrives in a color where certain geometric shapes, repeated patterns and added textures are included.

This piece creates its narrative via texture, patterns, repetition with references to "lyrical abstraction.” These elements meet to offer a feeling of coming together as the collection of concepts and forms take shape.
