San Pedro was named for St. Peter of Alexandria, a fourth-century bishop in Alexandria, Egypt.
The site, at the southern end of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, on the west side of San Pedro Bay, was used by Spanish ships starting in the 1540s.
This spectacular view is from Point Fermin Park, a stunning! The views off the San Pedro, California coast are one of the best in the LA area.
Point Fermin Park consists of 37 landscaped acres of tree-shaded lawns, sheltered pergolas, colorful gardens and a promenade along the edge of the palisade.
The vantage point atop the rugged bluffs affords a breathtaking view of the coast toward Santa Catalina Island.
