Description
Sake is Japanese Spider Crab which was living as a juvenile in Sydney Aquarium in 2012, he now been transferred to Sunshine coast.
Despite its ferocious appearance they are the gentle giant, who grow in leg span up to 5 metres.
Spider crabs are mostly found off the southern coasts of the Japanese island of Honshu in depths ranging from 50m to 600m, from Tokyo Ba to Kagoshima Prefecture in depths from 600 metres to as shallow as 50 metres and feed mostly on shelfish and the carcases of large fish or marine mammals.
