Ah yes, a Red Mexican Bird of Paradise, beautiful flowers!! Lovely image and beautiful verse. One that I have done for over 44 years. When David composed the 34th Psalm, he had just been through a frightening experience. He was on the run from murderous King Saul--a harrowing ordeal in itself. But then he had to take refuge among his enemies the Philistines. Faced with what seemed to be certain death, David cleverly disguised his sanity and was able to get away. David didn't attribute his narrow escape to his own ingenuity. Instead, he gave credit to Almighty God. Verse 34 David said that God had answered his prayer and rescued him from all his fears. So it was from personal experience that David could urge others to "taste and see that God is good." So it is a warm invitation of encouragement to serve Almighty God and conform our lives fully to do his will. Thereby God being good to us, guide us, and care for us spiritually, eventually rewarding us with everlasting life. This verse is placed in such a beautiful setting. Thanks for sharing God's reminders for us in such a lovely way. LV/FV Janet

Debby Pueschel replied:

Wow Janet, you are so knowledgeable in scripture and the history. This is one of my favorite verses...partiality due to John Michael Talbot's song of the same title. I loved that song. David truly has used his talents to give God the Glory....yet, though he was such a "less than perfect man", God said the David was man after His own heart. It is wonderful to know that we have a loving God who will love us even though we have not served Him as we should. If God can love a man like David, then I am also worthy of His love! Thank you for your comments and LF!
