Description
This view of the lighthouse at the entrance to Nassau Harbor in the Bahamas includes a pilot boat returning to port. The pilot boats meet every large ship entering the harbor to allow a Harbor Pilot to board the ship to serve as its "captain" for entering the harbor. The same happens when a ship leaves the harbor - but then the Pilot Boat meets the ship to bring the Harbor Pilot back to the dock.
Nassau Light is actually an abandoned lighthouse that has become an iconic image photographed by millions of people every year. This photograph was captured by Bill Swartwout Photography while aboard the Grandeur of the Seas on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean.
