Owen Point Is Growing
Photograph - Photography
Gull Island viewed from Owen point in Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Owen Point is an accretion built up and steadily growing due to opposing wave action on either side. The length of the spit of land grows by a couple of yards each year Here the waves from the left meet those from the right, piling up sand and gravel from both sides and creating a unique diamond pattern where the waves cross off the end of the point. It won't be long before the spit of land reaches Gull Island on the horizon.
