Description
"Little Red Schoolhouse, Council Grove, Kansas" by Catherine Sherman.
Lull School was built in 1915 north of Council Grove, Kansas. When the Council Grove Reservoir was constructed in 1964, the building was moved to its present location about a mile and a half away from its original site. It now sets in a meadow of prairie wildflowers, surrounded by rolling Flint Hills pastures. Known as “The Little Red Schoolhouse,” the schoolhouse is now Lull Meadows event space for dinners, receptions, parties and weddings..
The upper level of the building features the original one room school, wooden school desks, original text books, chalk board, and stage area. The school bell in the bell tower is rung on special occasions. The lower level can accommodate large groups for dinners and meetings. The newly remodeled kitchen is fully equipped and adjoins the outdoor patio pavilion.
