Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Zayne Diamond of Flying Z Photography.
After feeding in a field, a flock of Sandhill Crane takes flight to join others at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Reserve, near San Antonio, New Mexico. The massive migration of cranes return every November to Bosque del Apache NWR (about 160 miles south of Albuquerque). The refuge is along the Rio Grande River.
Cranes are among the oldest LIVING birds, dating back 10 million years. The Sandhill Crane is estimated to be 2.5 million years old. They stand 4.5-5 feet tall, weigh 10-14 pounds, and have a wingspan of 6-7 feet.
