The City of Houston's Spirit of the Confederacy in the city's downtown at Sam Houston Park. Donated by the United Daughters of the Confederacy this piece by Louis Amateis was intended to give the impression of a desire for peace with the palm branch while also promoting the myth of a war simply about states rights. Note the 'fuck you bigots' graffiti on the supporting rocks.
