Hiking To Portovenere Cinque Terre Italy
Artist
Joan Carroll
Medium
Photograph - Photography And Digital Art
Description
On a previous trip, I heard that the hike from Riomaggiore to Portovenere in the Cinque Terre region of Italy was very scenic. I was unable to make the hike that year, so I thought about and planned on it for a year before my next trip! When the day arrived, the weather forecast wasn’t great but I thought if I started early I might just make the 14k before the forecast rain began. Here I am getting close to the end and the rain is getting close too! The coastline is spectacular. You can see the Church of St Peter in Portovenere on the rocky outcropping off in the distance but the town itself if in a bay to the left behind the mountain. I did make it to within a couple hundred yards of the end of the trail before it started raining so it was a good day hiking!
