An arm of cloud in a fast-moving storm seems to reach out to grab the tiny "No Name" island in the Galápagos Islands of Ecuador. Dark clouds threaten the colorful hues of the sunset.

Beyond "No Name" Island is Pinzón Island, which is named for the brothers Pinzón, captains of the Pinta and the Niña on Columbus’ voyage to the New World. Pinzón Island sits at the center of the Galápagos archipelago and has remained very isolated because its surrounded by deep water.

We were in a speed boat on our way from Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island to Puerto Isidro Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. We were hoping to beat the storm, but we got drenched. Weather in the Galápagos is very changeable, and soon the storm passed over us.

The Galápagos archipelago has been described as one of the most unique, scientifically important, and biologically outstanding areas on earth.The Galápagos Islands is a volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. It's considered one of the world's foremost destinations for wildlife-viewing. A province of Ecuador, it lies about 1,000km off its coast. Its isolated terrain shelters a diversity of plant and animal species, many found nowhere else. Charles Darwin visited in 1835, and his observation of Galápagos' species later inspired his theory of evolution. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
