Description
FOGGY MORNING SPOONBILL
A Roseate Spoonbill perches on a stump in the Florida wetlands on a foggy morning as the sun finally breaks over the clouds. While Spoonbills aren't rare, they're actually a very common sight, getting a photo opportunity like this doesn't come along every day!
Roseate Spoonbills are very beautiful birds, with their spoon shaped bills and brilliant splash of pink on their wings they are one of my favorite birds to see and photograph. They use their unique shaped bill to scoop up bugs by sweeping it from side to side in shallow waters.
Funny story: While out one day in the wetlands photographing a group of Spoonbills I actually heard one woman ask "Why do they call them Spoonbills?"
