A pink crabapple tree blooms in my neighborhood. One of the best weeks in my neighborhood is when the crabapple trees bloom along the sidewalk. There are white, white with pink tinged edges and dark pink varieties.
I love the fresh, brisk fragrance of the flowers. The fruit is tiny and inedible, except to animals, but the flowers are gorgeous.
Years ago, dozens of bees would work the flowers, getting nectar and spreading pollen. You could hear their thrumming buzz throughout the branches. In recent years, I've seen and heard few bees, unfortunately.
