Description
Pictured with it’s heritage buildings and vintage-style street lamps, this is the 300 block of Baker Street, located in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. A watercolor effect has been applied to give it an artistic and timeless feel.
The two wooden buildings with large windows were constructed in 1897 when the community was first being incorporated. They have served in a number of roles over the years- not the least of note is starring in a Hollywood movie.
Bellamy's Grocery, shown on right, served as a grocery store until 1972. It features a sunburst motif, decorative shingles and cornice. On the left is the JM Ludwig Leather Goods building, which was originally built for and served as the local government office. This building is famous for being cast as the "All Things Dead" store in the 1987 Steve Martin movie "Roxanne". Note the mansard roof and recessed entranceway.
Today these two buildings are affectionately known by locals as the Coletti buildings and serve as an antique store.
