A Traveling Cabinets Of Curiosities
Artist
Richie Montgomery
Medium
Drawing - Ink On Paper
Description
This piece is another in a very small series of drawings loosely based on "The Never Was Haul". An amazing rolling work of art that was featured in the "Burning Man" festival. It is not a picture of it but rather my own thoughts and design on it. I worked on this piece for almost two months, trying to get every exquisite detail the way I wanted. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. It was named by the amazing artist Patrick Anthony Pierson

"Love the intricacy and detail of this drawing, though I enjoyed the comments almost as much. To me it looks like the first fumblings toward aircraft, had Union Pacific attempted flight instead of the Wright Brothers. Perhaps that's Orville Wright peaking from the top right window, captured by the railroad execs and forced to give up details about how to achieve flight. But, he tricked them by only mentioning the propeller and cleverly leaving out the critical wings." Azure Tackert

"Einstein represents science and discovery, but is trapped by the technology of time, starting from the earliest inventions (the firestone wheel) to whatever technical limitations there are in the present time. The hieroglyphs and space alien represent an alternative knowledge only partially known/understood. The figure peeking out in the upper right represent the portion of humanity that fear new and confusing discoveries/theories and wish they would just go away; with the "No Parking" sign representing that people will keep moving (hopefully forward) despite that fear." Your work is really wonderful Richie, so fine and fully conceived. You are a standout artist in your genre. v/f

I cannot believe more people haven't checked this out. The detail is stupendous. I want a magnifying glass to see everything. Where's Waldo?
